Heritage tours for Kazakh adoptees & their loved ones

Supported by our dedicated Ties team before, during, and after travel, we take pride in crafting opportunities that allow you to reconnect with people and places important to you, while connecting with a community who share similar life experiences.

Through curated travel experiences, personalized support, and community connections, we’re here to walk alongside you.

Our trips help adoptees reconnect with their roots, deepen cultural understanding, and embrace their unique stories.

Frequently Asked Questions

about heritage travel to Kazakhstan

Q: What are the typical ages?

A: Youngest will most likely be around 16 - into early to mid 20s.

Q: Can Kazakhstan force males into the military?

A: No, Kazakhstan cannot conscript adoptees into the military.

Q: Do I need to renounce citizenship?

A: Adoptees from Kazakhstan should travel with their US or Canadian passport, and bring a copy of their adoption papers. As of this date, you do not need to officially renounce citizenship. After you turn 18, the Kazakhstan government will do this for you. If you are concerned and would like to renounce citizenship, there is a process to go through. According to the consulate:

The adoptive families can register the loss of citizenship through the Consular Section of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Washington DC. They can also do this through the Consulate Generals in New York and San Francisco. For Canada, please contact the embassy in Canada for more information.

Q: Do you do birth searches?

A: No, but we have recommendations of searchers we can give you. Once you have a match and there is agreement to meet, Ties then comes in and can help with the connection once in the country.
