Frequently asked questions about India Ties
-
Yes. You can get an e-visas (30 day, 1 yr, 5, yr) or a 10 year visa. E-visas can be done online a few weeks before departure. 10 year visas are more complicated and require turning in your passport to the consulate.
-
There are two options:
Contact CARA (Central Adoption Resource Authority). The adoptee has to contact them on behalf of themselves, unless a minor. If a minor, then the legal guardian will need to contact.
There is an adoptee that has a group that helps with searches. The process is long and expensive but we have heard that families have been found this way.
Because India has a law that only the adoptee can request a search and information, if you use the second service, they will have you sign a power of attorney for them in India. Going this route will be more complicated as it is not easy to assign POA.
